An Oscar Bromance Competition

This awards season, it looks like graying movie star BFFs George Clooney and Brad Pitt are facing off. A couple of awards shows went down this past weekend and the competition between Clooney’s Hawaiian family tragedy, The Descendants and Pitt’s creation story, The Tree of Life has never been hotter.

“If Pitt gets too close to my heart-warming family dramedy, I’m gonna cut a bitch.”

The Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA) was aaaaall about Clooney and his tear-jerker hit The Descendants. The LAFCA awarded The Descendants Best Picture, while sticking The Tree of Life with the runner-up position. However, The Tree of Life was still able to nab Best Director for everyone’s favorite little hermit Terrence Malick, Best Actress for Hollywood’s everywhere girl Jessica Chastain, and Best Cinematography for Emmanuel Lubezki. Not bad at all.

“Clooney, my movie had dinosaurs. Did you know that?”

Meanwhile, at The San Francisco Critics Circle Awards (SFCCA), everyone was pretending like they knew what was actually happening in The Tree of Life and gave that beautifully confusing film their Best Picture Award. The SFCCA also honored Malick for Best Director, (that guy’s really getting around these days), and Best Cinematographer to Emmanuel Lubezki. You get yours, Pitt.

Pitt: I’m the fairest in all the land.

Clooney: A goatee? Really?

So which film will reign supreme when O Day hits? Right now, it’s too soon to tell. In the mean time, maybe Pitt and Clooney can create a fight club where the Brangelina kids square off against Clooney’s Italian model girlfriends. Angelina can watch.

Who should win? The Descendants or The Tree of Life? George Clooney’s dimples of Pitt’s leathery baby face? Maddox or the Italian gf? Weigh in in the comments section!
